A grand antique Victorian band ring modelled in 9ct gold with the word “MIZPAH” engraved in high relief lettering across the front, with textured detailing surrounding it.
“MIZPAH” is a Hebrew word meaning “Watchtower” and comes from the Old Testament; “The Lord watch between thee and me when we are absent one from another”. It became a popular motif during the Victorian era and was given as a token of protection and faithfulness.
The ring is in excellent condition and sits flat against the finger with the lettering wrapping around the top. It’s complete with hallmarks within the band indicating it was made in Birmingham by the “Nathan Brothers” in the late 19th Century.
