A striking antique Victorian solitaire ring from the late 19th Century crowned with a magical natural opal cabochon weighing approx. 0.70ct with blazing green, blue and orange colouring.

Opal is the birthstone of October. Their magic has been revered throughout history, desired for their enchanting rainbow of colours that flow and dance across the surface of the stone, evoking the beauty of planet earth or the aurora borealis, with a burning orange sunset glowing behind.

The stone is held securely in a 15ct gold bezel mount with a thick band at the back complete with an inscription within that has faded over time but the date “Feb 20th 1893” can be made out.  It was clearly very beloved and is in excellent condition.
