A pretty antique Victorian crescent moon brooch from the late 19th Century modelled in base metal with a crescent of sky-blue faux turquoise in the centre, bordered by twinkling clear pastes around the edge.
Celestial jewellery became increasingly sought after during the 19th Century as people began to look up at the stars and heavens once more with renewed fascination. The crescent moon was a symbol of the Greek God Selene, the feminine moon Goddess and represented change and female empowerment in the Victorian Era.
It’s a wonderful antique treasure and would look beautiful pinned to a lapel.
