A beautiful antique Victorian lavaliere necklace adorned with a pretty swallow pendant decorated with glistening white old-cut paste stones across the front, with a pink paste eye at the head and a large pear-cut paste dropper dangling from its beak.
Swallows are known to mate for life and said to always return home to the nest, making them a powerful symbol of everlasting love, joy and faithfulness. They were especially popular in the Victorian era and gifted as romantic tokens by lovers during long periods of separation.
It’s a fabulous Victorian necklace, modelled in 935 sterling silver and fitted with a new 9ct gold curb chain, held by a ring clasp.
