A sweet antique Victorian dropper pendant featuring a large flower at the bottom consisting of a large cabochon moonstone (approx. 3.5ct) with a halo of pink cabochon ruby petals (approx. 1.3ct total). The moonstone displays a magical blue luminescence that intensifies with the light and is complemented perfectly by the bright pink rubies that are also dotted on the gallery above.
The mystifying moonstone derives its name from the stone’s ethereal, luminescent light that was once believed to be moonlight in solid form. In Greek mythology they were associated with Selene, the feminine moon Goddess and said to be a path to love, wisdom and new beginnings.
The piece is crafted in 15ct gold with open, pierced metalwork on the back. It dates to the late 19th Century and has remained in excellent condition.
