A grand antique Victorian gypsy ring made by Edward Foligne Braham in the late 19th Century. It’s modelled in 18ct gold with a slit in the centre lined with alternating blue sapphires and twinkling old mine cut diamonds.

Sapphire is the birthstone of September. The blue variety is considered a stone of truth, wisdom and protection and has long been a favourite of kings and royalty, adored for its royal blue colouring which was considered a reflection of the sky and the heavens, making it divine.

The band has developed a lovely smoothness and patina over time and is complete with Chester hallmarks within, dating the piece to 1891. It’s in excellent condition and the stones contrast beautifully against the yellow gold.
