A classic antique Victorian collar from the late 19th Century crafted in silver and bestowed with a large silver locket chased with elaborate patterning on both sides including wreaths of ivy and forget me nots.
Forget me nots were a popular motif in the Victorian era and symbolic of eternal love and remembrance. They were often paired with ivy leaves which similarly represented an unbreakable bond, as in the Victorian rhyme “Close clings the ivy to the tree, so in my heart I cling to thee”.
The chunky collar has a fabulous double cable-link design that articulates fluidly and is topped with star stamped circles across the entire length. It’s a grand piece of Victorian history and the locket is complete with rims and windows, ready to store two cherished family portraits.
