A beautiful vintage Cameo brooch from the 1960s depicting the profile of an elegant lady hand carved from a bullmouth shell and set in a 9ct gold rope edge frame.
Cameos have been carved since ancient times and saw a revival during the Victorian era due to Queen Victoria’s fascination with the pieces. Bullmouth Shell was often used as a base for Cameos for its beautiful natural patterning which takes expert skill to carve.
The piece is complete with Birmingham hallmarks and the maker’s initials which date it to 1965. Its elegant craftsmanship makes this piece truly special and is one to be treasured.
