A beautiful vintage iolite ring made in Birmingham, Circa 1980. It features two rows of tension set iolite (approx. 0.96ct total) with a striking, violet-blue tone that contrasts beautifully against a 9ct yellow gold gallery.
Iolite derives its name from the Greek word “ios”, meaning violet. Its clear bluish-violet hue has earned it the names “Water Sapphire” and “Vikings compass” as it was worn historically by sailors as a lucky talisman, believed to guide them safely during a long voyage.
It’s a fabulous statement piece and the stones look gorgeous wrapping around the finger. It’s complete with Birmingham hallmarks and the maker’s mark within the band.
