This mesmerising vintage opal negligee necklace dates to the mid-20th century and showcases a graceful double-drop lavalier design, adorned with two luminous, bulb-shaped globes, filled with iridescent opal chips. The opal fragments are suspended in high-clarity optical resin, creating a captivating “frozen explosion” of vivid blue, green, and fiery orange flashes, shimmering like a miniature neon galaxy within.
Each globe is crowned with a delicate 9ct gold “tulip” cap, exquisitely detailed with intricate repoussé scrollwork. Suspended from fine twin chains of differing lengths, the classic negligee silhouette forms an elegant vertical line that elongates the neck, flowing upward to a faceted gold ball and a 15-inch chain, stamped 9K.
Preserved in excellent condition, this delicate vintage lavalier necklace is a rare and unique find. Wear it alone to allow its celestial colours to shine, or layer it with other fine gold chains for a bold statement look.
