A classic vintage Egyptian-revival snake slave bangle, built around a strong steel band that has been rolled in a bright yellow gold base metal and finished with an engraved serpent head and tail.
Egyptian-style jewellery saw a revival in the 20th Century after an abundance of archaeological discoveries, most notably the discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb, brought about a fascination and desire for Egyptian-themed pieces across Europe. Snakes were one popular motif and were a symbol of royalty and protection in ancient Egypt.
This elegant vintage serpent bangle features a clever expandable design that allows the snake to stretch and wrap comfortably around the wrist or upper arm. It dates to Circa 1930 and is in excellent condition.
